Dr Edgar Munatsi (MBChB) has over ten years’ experience in youth leadership, community development, and public health advocacy. His work at the government hospital involves consultations with patients, dispensing medical information, prescribing appropriate medicine, and conducting surgical procedures. Dr Edgar is the immediate past President of the Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association (ZHDA) where he represented all government doctors in engagements with the authorities over the implementation of national health policies and the welfare of doctors across the country. Dr Edgar holds a bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degree (MBChB) from the University of Zimbabwe. Coming from a poor and marginalised community, He is motivated to make modern medicine more accessible to such communities that struggle with basic health challenges. Dr Edgar plans to study for a Masters in Public Health, Masters in Global Health Economics and Policy and continue his medical work in Zimbabwe with a focus on public health management, low-cost healthcare delivery systems, and ensuring access to health and simplified medical information to marginalized communities. Dr Edgar Munatsi was selected to participate in the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders (YALI) 2017 Cohort.
